Last Kids class for 2014

It's great to see the kids class growing and hopefully these little guys stick to it!
They are improving everyday and we can't wait to see them competing next year!
For the last class we had lots of fun playing soccer for the warm up and lots of wrestling after that.

Have a great holidays and stay safe guys.
See you all next year!

Club end of the year

2014 is nearly over and this is our club end of the year event...
Paintball Game!!
We had a great time shooting at each other and will definitely organize another game when everyone is available.

Thanks for coming guys.

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Development Tournament 2014

The first Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Development Tournament was held on the 13/12/2014, for us it was the last comp for this year.
We only had 2 competitors from our club attending, Hugo and Ali.
It was Hugo's first comp and he got a bronze medal, but still a lot to fix and learn. Ali did really well, he won his weight division and the open weight division winning most of his fights by submission!

Well done Ali!
We all know how hard you train.

IBJJF Asian Cup 2014

Professor Minol and Toni went to compete at the 2014 Asian Cup held in Nagoya, Japan.
Tyson was supposed to compete as well but unfortunately he broke his hand 4 days before the comp...
So him and his dad John came to support the team!
First night in Japan the boys visited KO Shooto Gym where Professor Minol used to take Jiu-Jitsu classes.
When training was about to finish Professor Minol did a surprise for Tyson and John,
grading them to purple belt!

On Friday the boys went to Nagoya for the comp.
Toni was fighting on Saturday and Professor Minol on Sunday.

Toni did 2 fights on his weight division and got gold!

On Open Weight he got bronze!

Toni receiving his first stripe on brown belt

Professor Minol won his first fight in his category and went to the final,
but unfortunately unable to apply his game lost by points and got silver.

In the Open Weight Professor Minol Won 3 fights (2 by submission and 1 by stoppage) to get to the final.
In the final he got a penalty for not moving (which was wrong)
and that cost him the fight and he got silver again.

(Turns out the referee of the match was his opponents oldest student...)

"Overall it was a great experience for all of us and we had a great time!" (Minol)

Also a massive thank you to Nori and Erika who accommodated us in their apartment for 2 nights!

And thank you all EMWJJA club crew who was supporting us from Australia!

Special Visitor

We were very lucky to have Marcos Souza with us for 3 days!
Marcos has very good techniques and is a very exiting fighter to watch.
Minol and Marcos are friends since they met at a competition in Japan 9 years ago and a fun fact is that master Wilson and Marcos' father were very good friends back in Brazil.
Thank you Marquinhos for the awesome training and we are looking forward to see you here next year!

Big thanks to everyone who attended the class and seminar.
